Where To Properly Dispose Of Household Hazardous Waste

City of Carlsbad Residents

Residents that live in the city of Carlsbad will need to contact the Waste Management customer service department at (760) 929-9400 M-F (7am — 5pm) and Saturday (8 am — 11 am) to schedule an appointment to drop off their hazardous waste at the Oceanside facility.

Residents cannot drop off hazardous waste without an appointment. Waste Management will dispose of resident’s hazardous waste free of charge if the weight of the disposal is no more than 15 gallons/125 lbs.

City of Encinitas Residents

Residents that live in the city of Encinitas will need to contact Clean Harbors customer service department at 1-800-444-4244 to schedule an appointment for pick up services. Residents that are 65 years or older qualify for free pickup services. Residents not qualifying for free pickup service will be charged a $10 copayment. Residents may also drop off their hazardous waste at the Vista collection center located at 1145 East Taylor Street, Vista, CA 92084 or the Poway collection center located in the South Poway Business Park at 12325 Crosthwaite Circle off Stowe Drive.

Collection locations are open every Saturday (except holiday weekends) from 9 a.m. — 3 p.m. Management will dispose of resident’s hazardous waste free of charge if the weight of the disposal is no more than 15 gallons/125 lbs.

Proof of residency is required for all drop off locations (e.g. Driver’s license or utility bill).
