Scholarship Program History
Since
1999, Leucadia Wastewater District has awarded local graduating
high school seniors with $1,000 scholarships. Each spring, the
District selects two winners and invites them to participate in
a public award ceremony during a regular District board meeting.
The Leucadia Wastewater District scholarship program supports
local youth and shows the importance of water recycling and effective
wastewater treatment in protecting public health and the environment.
Carlsbad and Encinitas high school seniors in the service area
may participate. Contestants are judged on the quality of
their applications, including an essay on wastewater treatment,
community service, and academic achievement. A minimum grade
point average of 2.5 is also required.
