The District’s Field Service Technicians (FSTs) recently spent two days learning and practicing confined space entries and traffic control. Confined space training focuses on the safety and teamwork required to access hard-to-reach areas, including many of our pump stations and manholes.

Most of our manholes and sewer lines are located under major roadways, which necessitates traffic control by team members to ensure safety while maintaining the sewer system. The value of teamwork is incredibly important, and the District does not take it lightly.

The District was happy to host the San Diego chapter of the WateReuse Association to discuss our wastewater reuse efforts including for the Omni La Costa Legends Golf Course.

It’s great to have local leaders at the forefront of wastewater innovation learning from each other. We also enjoyed giving a tour of our facilities.

We’ve recently upgraded our surf cam located at the Batiquitos Pump Station, directly across from South Ponto Beach. Heading out to surf or just need a moment of zen? Tune in to our surf cam here!

The District recently co-hosted a mutual aid training with the City of Encinitas to share best practices in the event of an incident at one of our pump stations.

Regular trainings conducted by the Field Service team have enabled the District to avoid any sewer spills for over 4 years, despite major rainstorms.

Great job, team!
