Leucadia Wastewater District

Latest News

We are set to begin construction on the Rancho Verde Pump Station. Built 29 years ago, the pump station will be retrofitted with new electrical and mechanical components, and other general site improvements.
These upgrades will help prevent system failures and ensure continued top-quality service for the community. Residents may notice increased activity in the area for about 4 months during construction, and rest assured that we are working hard to minimize disruptions.

We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the Batiquitos Pump Station Emergency Basin Project. The emergency basin is a critical piece of infrastructure that serves as temporary wastewater storage for excess flows during high wet weather flows or emergency situations. The emergency basin work included concrete restoration on the walls and ceiling and then lining the concrete with an epoxy.

Diana Pump Station project upgrade will enhance the reliability and emergency response capabilities of the pump station which serves the Leucadia community, along Highway 101.

The upcoming upgrade includes adding an onsite emergency generator to ensure continued operation during power outages and relocating electrical equipment to a newly acquired easement on Diana Street.

Construction is expected to begin in 2026. Stay tuned for updates as this project moves forward!

By bringing wastewater education directly to the classroom, our team ensures that students not only learn about water conservation but also understand how their daily actions can protect our local water resources.

Did you know a leaky toilet can waste up to 200 gallons of water per day! A silent leak might be driving up your water bill. Try adding a few drops of food colouring to the tank. If the colour seeps into the bowl without flushing, it’s time for a fix

We’re proud to share that LWD placed 2nd statewide in the CWEA Public Outreach category for our work with Capri Elementary School!

Through hands-on demos, water science fun, and real-world lessons about our sewer system, we’re helping students connect with the value of clean water and sustainability early on.

A huge thank you to Capri’s amazing staff and students for their curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm-you made this recognition possible!

And congratulations to Mission Springs Water District on taking home 1st place. Well done!

LWD will be conducting safe and non-toxic smoke tests from Monday, June 2 through Wednesday, June 4, between 7:30 AM and 3:45 PM.

Smoke testing helps our Field Services team detect stormwater intrusion and identify sewer lines that may need repair and is an essential part of keeping our wastewater system clean and efficient.

LWD recently visited La Costa Heights Elementary to give students a close-up look at how we inspect and clean sewer pipes using real equipment in the field.

The live demo helped students understand why only water belongs down the drain-and how we work behind the scenes to keep everything flowing safely underground.

The Leucadia Wastewater District will be closed on Monday, May 26, 2025, in observance of Memorial Day.

We honor and remember those who have served and paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Thank you for your service.
