Happy America Recycles Day♻️ Individual recycling action and behavior are themes of this year’s America Recycles Day®, a Keep America Beautiful national program and the only nationally-recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States. In its 24th year, America Recycles Day (ARD), Nov. 15th, educates people about the importance of recycling to our economy and environmental well-being and helps to motivate occasional recyclers to become everyday recyclers.

The District recycles wastewater as a way to augment scarce water supplies, this is important for our region and our ongoing drought. Wastewater is collected from our customers within the District’s service area and routed many miles to the Encina Wastewater Authority Regional Treatment Plant through our vast system of sewer pipelines and pump stations. This wastewater is treated at the Encina Wastewater Authority and pumped back to our Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant for further processing and use on the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa golf course. The Biosolids left over in wastewater treatment are recycled into fertilizer by processing, treating and using it as an amendment for gardens and landscape. To participate in this important holiday, we urge you to reduce, reuse, repurpose, and recycle on America Recycles Day- and every day- by taking the #BeRecycled Pledge here: https://kab.org/programs/ard/pledge/
