What to Know About Sewer Line Cleaning Work

Sewer Line Cleaning in Progress

Preventive Maintenance to Protect the Community

You may see our crew working from a sewer manhole using specialized equipment. This is routine preventive maintenance performed to keep the sewer system flowing properly and to reduce the risk of backups or overflows.

What are we doing?

We are hydro-cleaning the public sewer main using high-pressure water to remove debris so wastewater can move safely through the system.

Why is this important?

Over time, sewer pipes can collect:

  • Non-flushable wipes and rags
  • Grease and food waste
  • Roots and other debris

If not removed, these materials can cause blockages that may lead to sewer backups or environmental spills.

What should residents expect today?

  • Temporary equipment noise
  • Crews working from manholes
  • Cones and safety devices near the work area
  • No interruption to sewer service
  • Possible minimal traffic or sidewalk impacts near the work zone

How can residents help prevent clogs?

  • Do not flush wipes or hygiene products
  • Don not pour grease or oils down drains

Please keep a safe distance

Stay out of the coned work zone and follow posted safety signs.
