In June, the District conducted smoke testing in Encinitas. During this process, non-hazardous smoke is pumped through sewer pipelines to private laterals. When properly connected, this smoke should flow out of the roof vents of businesses and residences. However if improperly connected, extra storm water can enter the sewer system. This has the potential to overwhelm the system’s capacity and lead to a sewer spill.
With summer in full swing, it’s important to stay ahead of saving electricity to avoid power outages, help reduce your energy costs and preserve our natural resources.
🔥 Set your thermostat to 78 degrees or higher. Increasing your air conditioner 7 to 10 degrees 8 hours a day can save up to 10 percent on cooling costs.
