The District’s award-winning virtual tour was featured in the Treatment Plant Operator Magazine - Dedicated to Municipal Wastewater!

Because of COVID, the District had to suspend plant tours. We wanted to stay connected to residents and communicate the services we provide, so we produced a virtual tour. The video describes our entire treatment process, and features our very own Field Services Technicians as the stars and narrators.

Below is a checklist of ways to prepare for upcoming rainfall:

✅Start capturing rainwater now for later use! This reduces runoff to the ocean, ​​keeping harmful pollutants from reaching beaches and waterways.

✅ Proactively turn off irrigation to save water and minimize runoff.

✅Do not open or lift manhole covers in the event of street flooding.

Are you frying your turkey this holiday season? Or cooking and baking with oil?

The correct way to dispose of Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) is by letting them cool, pouring them in a can, sealing the can with a lid, and then throwing it in the trash. With larger quantities of oil, pour the oil into a sealed container and place it in the trash bin. Pouring FOG down your drain might cause a sewer backup in your home and may lead to a sewer spill.

The District wants to extend a warm welcome to our new Director Rolando Saldana. Mr. Saldana was recently appointed by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors to represent Division 4 of the Leucadia Wastewater District. He will be sworn in at the December 14, 2022 Board meeting.

For the last 10+ years, the District has annually granted money to local teachers to help support environmental education projects with a focus on water resource management.

Learn how fourth grade teacher Jennifer Smith from El Camino Creek Principal was awarded $1,998 to fund her classes’ “Water Conservation Strategy” project.

Safety is the number one priority at the District and we constantly train for contingencies to minimize injury and impact to the community and environment.

Our Field Services Technicians recently completed their annual confined space training, which includes, how to recognize a confined space and the specific hazards associated with that space.
