Behind the scenes at LWD, safety and training are always a top priority.
Our Field Services team participates in ongoing training, routine inspections, and preventative maintenance to keep the wastewater system operating safely and reliably. This commitment helps prevent spills, protect the environment, and ensure our crews return home safely each day.
Thank you for driving carefully and giving our crews space when you see them working in the community.
Did you know recycled water helps conserve millions of gallons of drinking water every year?
By partnering with regional facilities, LWD supports the use of recycled water for irrigation, landscaping, and other non-drinking purposes - reducing demand on potable water supplies while protecting the environment.
Wastewater isn’t waste - it’s a resource.
Pump stations play a critical role in our wastewater system - especially in a hilly service area like ours.
LWD operates and maintains 10 pump stations that help move wastewater uphill so it can continue flowing through gravity pipelines. Each station is carefully monitored, routinely maintained, and equipped with emergency preparedness features to ensure reliable service during storms or power outages.
Strong infrastructure means a stronger community.
Leucadia Wastewater District will be closed on Monday, January 19, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
For wastewater emergencies during this time, please call (760) 753-0155.
At LWD, we regularly inspect and clean over 200 miles of sewer pipeline and maintain 10 pump stations to prevent problems before they happen. Planning ahead helps us avoid emergency repairs, reduce system failures, and protect ratepayers from sudden cost increases.
Reliable service starts with preparation.
“Flushable” wipes aren’t so flushable.
Even when labeled otherwise, wipes don’t break down like toilet paper. They can clog pipes, damage pumps, and lead to costly backups and repairs - both for homeowners and the wastewater system.
Remember: only toilet paper down the pipes. Trash all the wipes.
Small actions make a big difference in keeping our system flowing smoothly.
As we begin 2026, Leucadia Wastewater District remains focused on protecting public health, safeguarding our environment, and providing reliable wastewater service to our community.
Through proactive maintenance, smart investments, and a dedicated team working behind the scenes every day, we’re committed to keeping our system running safely and efficiently - now and into the future.
Thank you for your continued trust and partnership. Here’s to a safe, healthy year ahead.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve you, our community and protect our shared environment. Happy New year to you! May your 2026 be clean and full of gratitude.
The District will be closed on January 1, 2026 for the New Year Holiday.
